SCIENCE INTO IMAGES RADIO SEGMENT (14.02.2021)
UNITED NATIONS DECADE ON ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION (2021-2030)
Yesterday, Sunday, February 14, 2021, we aired the third installment of our radio segment on Maresmejant, a program on Mataró Ràdio, which you can tune into at 89.3 FM.
Here’s the link where you can listen to the full program (2 hours):

You can also access the audio of our segment directly (approximately 22 minutes) on our YouTube channel, Science into Images.

Today’s main topic was the launch of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030) and, in connection with it, the MITICAP and RESCAP Projects carried out by researchers from the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC) in the coastal area of Cap de Creus.
The close collaboration between researchers and the fishing guilds of Cadaqués and Port de la Selva has yielded excellent results, demonstrating that ecosystem conservation is by no means incompatible with maintaining traditional activities—in this case, fishing. Furthermore, it has shown that citizen involvement in scientific research not only facilitates the work of researchers but also enhances project outcomes.
We also shared some information about the Hipatia Prize (organized by the Academia Europaea and the Barcelona City Council) and the upcoming Women’s Week 2021, both hosted by the Barcelona hub of the Academia Europaea.
At the end of this post, you’ll find links where you can access more information on the topics discussed.
We hope you find our contribution interesting!
