Born in a drop

This book offers an exquisite selection of the best photographs of the microscopic world hidden in a simple drop of water.

Tiny living beings that we only see thanks to the microscope, and that Rubén Duro has the mastery to photograph. They measure no more than a few hundred microns. Tiny but of great ecological importance, they recycle matter and energy, and many are the basis of our planet’s food chains. This reminds us that without micro-organisms, life on Earth would not be possible.

The author uses images to explain, in a very didactic and informative way, the different reproduction strategies of the microscopic world. From the author’s hand, we look at the struggle for survival, at evolution in a drop of water. Different ways of being born, but all in water. And we understand a little better why life emerged millions of years ago in a drop of water, why water is life.
