Micràrium

Science into Images has collaborated with CosmoCaixa as scientific advisors during the creation of the Micrarium space.

The permanent Micrarium space is pioneering in Spain and one of the few in Europe that allows exploration of the microscopic world through experimentation.

The visitor is both an observer and a protagonist; in fact, in addition to preparations from the mineral, plant, and animal worlds, visitors to Micrarium can observe themselves using magnification instruments: hair, skin, or even clothing will be objects that can be visualized and discussed. The goal is to reinforce the idea that the microscopic world is not foreign to us, that it is part of our reality, even though we cannot see it.

The activity in Micrarium begins in an immersive space where the visitor enters a microscopic world. An immersive space with a semicircular screen and surround sound gives us the sensation of shrinking to see the world from a completely new perspective. Then, the experimental activity moves to the four spaces of Micrarium, which reproduce different content areas of the Universe Hall: Kósmos, Evolution, and Frontiers. In these spaces, visitors can observe tiny samples through microscopes, magnifying glasses, or other devices, and they can capture their own digital photographs.
